The three girls were getting their kids ready for bed when Helen stopped by. She called them aside and whispered; “A detective with red hair is looking for you. I have no idea what he wants…do you?” Annie’s first thoughts were of Harold who Julie left passed out on a rural crossing north of Hobbs in the path of the Rose Bowl Express. And then there was the insurance investigator, Aaron Bergner, who tried to blackmail them with evidence that Julie had murdered her husband, but he would agree to keep it secret in exchange for sex and half her insurance settlement. Annie, Julie, and Mary had planned the murder of Harold Johnson who was the father of all their children. Julie had agreed to share Harold’s sixty-thousand dollar life insurance money equally between them. Then when Bergner came on the scene trying to blackmail all of them, Annie came up with the idea that she knew a guy who had a prison record for murder. "I think we can hire him to get rid of Bergner!" she said. All three women had been victimized by the same sex addict, Harold Johnson, who left them with unplanned pregnancies. Deep inside, each of them knew they were partly to blame, but all three agreed they would be doing the world a service by getting rid of Harold, and that’s exactly what they did! This was soon discovered by an insurance investigator who tried to blackmail them wanting sex and half their insurance settlement. He became victim number two.
