Nikolas 'Nick' Simonides, a Trans American Airlines (TAA) captain, and Sherif Hussein El-Amin, a captain for Air Aljann (Air Al), a Saudi Arabian airline, literally bump into each other in first-class on a Trans American flight from New Yok to Paris. Both are out of uniform and flying on company business—deadheading to and from assignments. Both learn during a brief conversation over dinner that each has a woman problem. Nick is separated from his wife and seeking a divorce. He is in a relationship with a much younger and beautiful French-Vietnamese TAA flight attendant who is based in Paris. His wife, however, is holding out until she receives a solid marriage proposal from her wealthy new beau who is not all that anxious to set a date for the ceremony. Sherif, as the eldest son in his family, is expected to restore his family’s honor when a half-sister’s sexual dalliances with non-Muslim men (and women) have brought shame upon the family. Nick thinks Sherif is half-drunk and blustering when he suggests that a double murder would solve both of their problems. It would be the perfect crime because they were strangers on a plane when they met with nothing in their backgrounds to connect them with each other or with the respective problem women. When the two pilots part in Paris, Nick thinks that he is free of Sherif and his simplistic scheming. It turns out, to Nick’s chagrin, that he has badly underestimated Sherif’s tenaciousness.
