Sinossi
Khadija a grandi dans la petite épicerie que tenaient ses parents à Puteaux. À la mort de sa mère, son père Tareq est reparti vivre au Maroc. À vingt ans, la jeune femme mène une vie simple et solitaire jusqu’au jour où elle rencontre Virgile, un garçon un peu frustre, mais sociable et au charme certain. Deux ans plus tard, parents d’un petit garçon, Virgile et Khadija s’installent dans un mas des environs de Cahors, où ils ne tardent pas à se marier. La jeune épouse aspire à un bonheur tranquille, mais très vite son existence bascule de façon terrifiante. Égoïste et tyrannique, Virgile la soumet à des humiliations puis à des brutalités régulières. Isolée et sans ressources, Khadija plonge dans l’enfer de la violence conjugale. Elle n’aura de cesse de protéger son fils, mais très vite un autre piège infernal se refermera sur elle.

Informazioni sull'autore
Philippe Routier est né en 1958 en Allemagne. Il vit à Paris depuis 1974. Il est l’auteur de trois romans, parus chez Stock : Le Passage à niveau (2006), Le Veilleur du Britannia (2008) et Pour une vie plus douce (2009). Ce dernier a librement inspiré Cédric Kahn pour son nouveau film sous le titre Une vie meilleure, avec Guillaume Canet et Leïla Bekhti (sortie le 4 janvier 2012).
