Sinossi

Step beyond the Guiness Storehouse. Wander past the postcard sights. Discover the Dublin that hides in plain sight.

Let Secret Dublin: An Unusual Guide lead you far from the familiar crowds of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral and the Trinity College Old Library. This captivating, alternative guidebook uncovers the city’s most intriguing corners - the quirky architecture, eccentric museums, mysterious underground spaces, and enchanting green hideaways.

Discover the Zoology Museum also known as the ‘Dead Zoo’ which has a bizarre little collection that contains everything from a stuffed auk to the skeleton of an elephant. Explore Marsh’s Library which is Ireland’s first public library that was built in 1701. With over 140 unusual and unfamiliar places, this is the perfect companion for curious travellers, city explorers, and people who think they’ve seen it all.

Whether you love mysterious underground worlds, peaceful secret gardens, or wonderfully strange museums, you’ll find something unforgettable:
  • Discover Casino at Marino, the littlest big house which opened in 1760 that is also regarded as one of the most exquisite neo-classical garden temples in Europe.
  • Visit ‘Spite Row’, the birthplace area of Bram Stoker, author of Dracula, where you can lean into its gothic literary roots.
  • Uncover the Hell Fire Club where you will find the building on top of Montpelier Hill which became known for gambling, drinking and satanism in the 1700s.
  • Marvel at the Hungry Tree as you enter the gardens at King’s Inns where you will find a hapless bench apparently being eaten alive by a London plane tree.
  • Stroll around Magazine Fort which is Dublin’s only remaining fort which was built in 1611.
    • Why You’ll Love Secret Dublin:
    • Over 140 quirky, surprising, and little-known places
    • Perfect for curious travellers, locals, and armchair explorers
    • Packed with insider tips from local expert Pol O'Conghaile who has lived and worked in Dublin their whole life
    • A celebration of Dublin’s hidden stories, oddities, and forgotten corners

Ready to see Dublin differently? Step this way and unlock the city’s most curious secrets with Secret Dublin: An Unusual Guide.
