They demonstrate the range of approaches being used to characterize designing as a process. At the same time they show that there is a commonality in designing independent of design discipline. John Gero has been a Professor of Design Science, Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Civil Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, Computer Science, Design and Computation and Mechanical Engineering in Australia, France, Switzerland, UK and USA. He is the Chair of the international conference series Design Computing and Cognition.
