Renate Welsh, geboren 1937 in Wien, studierte Englisch, Spanisch und Staatswissenschaften und schreibt seit 1970 sowohl Kinder- und Jugendbücher als auch Bücher für Erwachsene. Ihr Werk wurde vielfach ausgezeichnet. Sie lebt in Wien.
