Riassunto

Semantics are getting more important in the field of computer science. This is partly caused by the Semantic Web, which tries to transfer semantic meaning to the digital world. Among other things this can contribute to the endeavors to stem the prevailing information abundance. Gnowsis is an approach to transfer semantics to a single computer with the help of technologies taken from the Semantic Web. On one hand this serves as a basis for building the Semantic Web and on the other hand it enables numerous innovations in the field of Personal Information Management (PIM). Kaukolu Wiki makes use of Semantic Web technologies in order to adhere a certain meaning to the links between its wiki pages. A user evaluation should show to what extent the collaboration of Gnowsis and Kaukolu can help the user to manage his personal information according to his very own desires and without further restrictions by any software. This book appeals to researchers who want to conduct user evaluations in the field of PIM and everybody who wants to get an overview on the field of Wikis and Semantic Desktops.
