An overview of applications and technologies of automotive electronics is given, together with a deeper discussion on the cost- efficiency and dependability requirements posed on automotive systems. Also a quantitative method for modular architecture design, based on an information model, is described. Such an information model is a key enabler for managing the increasing complexity of automotive electronics, it provides the analyzability needed to ensure the dependability of the systems. The ideas and methods presented in this book have been developed and tried in an industrial setting through a range of case studies.
