Nanoparticles can help to enhance the physical properties of conventional textiles in areas such as antimicrobial properties, ultra violet protection, water repellence, soil resistance, antistatic, anti-infrared and flame-retardant properties. Textile materials treated with nano materials are aimed at producing finished fabrics with different functional performances. In this book, we will focus on the antimicrobial and UV- protection finishing on textile materials.

Tarek Abou Elmaaty is a professor of organic chemistry in the department of textile dyeing & finishing, Damietta University. He did a Postdoctoral at Keele University, UK, 1999 and a Postdoctoral at ISU, USA, 2005. He has been awarded a TWAS-UNISCO associatship in 2004. He is a Fulbright Fellow since 2005, Matsumae Fellow since 2013.
