Dipl.-Wirtsch. Inf. Wieland Holfelder hat bereits während seines Studiums freiberuflich an Design und Implementierung von Kiosksystemen gearbeitet. Nach einem einjährigen Promotionsstipendium am International Computer Science Institute in Berkeley, Kalifornien, bei dem er an der Realisierung von verteilten Multimediaanwendungen im Rahmen des amerikanischen "Information Superhighway" Projekts gearbeitet hat, setzte er am European Networking Center der IBM in Heidelberg seine Promotion auf dem Gebiet verteilte Multimedia Systeme fort.
