Prof. Dr. Othmar Wickenheiser, geboren 1962, ist Automobildesigner, seit 1996 Professor für Transportation Design an der Hochschule München sowie Fachkommentator für Automobildesign im Deutschen Fernsehen und mehrfach ausgezeichneter Fachbuchautor. Nach dem Studium des Maschinenbaus und des Transportation Designs war der Absolvent des Art Center College of Design (USA) zunächst in Japan und danach bei Audi als Exterieur-Designer und Kulturbeauftragter tätig. Er verfügt darüber hinaus über internationale Lehrerfahrung, u.a. als Gastprofessor, an renommierten Universitäten und promovierte über die Automobil-Designgeschichte.
Mit dem Standardwerk „Audi Design - Automobilgestaltung von 1965 bis zur Gegenwart“ hat der Experte für Automobildesign 2005 die Marke mit ihrer überzeugenden Designentwicklung umfassend analysiert und dieses Portrait in einem zweiten Band bis 2014 fortgeführt.
Sein gemeinsam mit Dr. Swantje Kuhfuss-Wickenheiser publiziertes Buch „CAR DESIGN STUDIES – Kooperationsprojekte mit Deutschlands Automobil Design Studios“ erhielt den Autobuch-Preis 2009 in der Kategorie „Design“ des Motor Presse Clubs. Ein Jahr danach wurde ihm die Auszeichnung "Design Buch des Jahres" für die Veröffentlichung "Mini Design - Past Present Future" zu teil. Er gehört dem Roster of Experts des International Council of Industrial Designers und ist Stiftungsmitglied des German Design Council.
