Sinossi

Corporate business has turned its attention to the businesses of corporate social responsibility. Moreover, corporate entities have changed their traditional view on philanthropic engagements.Since corporate business is understood to act in a global market, social responsibility has no more borders. Hence a firms lack of social responsibility in one particular region can have a domino effect on its global representation. In particular the financial sector has helped to shape microfinance in a way that it became commercially viable. Institutional investors from developed nations have gained confidence in the business of microfinance after commercial banks from developing countries have shown that even poor people can be creditworthy. This book illustrates how microfinance can provide a suitable platform for companies to meet the demand towards a more business oriented way of philanthropy.
