Nasce nel 1954 a Francoforte, in Germania. Nei 1975 si trasferisce a Parigi, dove lavorerà per 10 anni come fotomodella. Nel 1986 decide di spostarsi dietro l'obiettivo diventando fotografa di moda e pubblicità. Le sue fotografie, dallo stile ironico e provocatorio rna sempre elegante e sensuale, compaiono sulle più importanti riviste del settore. Oltre che di fotografia, Von Unverth si occupa di cortometraggi e video musicali.
