RICHARD AVEDON (geb. 1923) war gemeinsam mit seinem Klassenkameraden James Baldwin Herausgeber von The Magpie, dem Literaturmagazin der de Witt Clinton High School in der Bronx. 1942 ging er zur photographischen Abteilung der US Handelsmarine, Er war fester Photograph bei Harpers Bazaar (1951-1965) und Vogue (1966-1988) und arbeitete mit James Baldwin an Nothing Personal (1964) zusammen, einem Buch über die amerikanische Bürgerrechtsbewegung. 1992 wurde er der erste Redaktionsphotograph bei The New Yorker. DOON ARBUS (geb. 1945) schrieb Alice in Wonderland: The Forming ofa Company, the Making ofa Play, und arbeitet für eine Reihe von Zeitschriften, u.a. Rolling Stone und The Nation.
