The book s elongated width reflects the influence of film aesthetic in Reed s highly gestural paintings, drawings and color studies. - Über pure Schönheit in der Kunst zu diskutieren, galt viele Jahrzehnte für Theoretiker als nicht angemessen zu profan schien die Beschäftigung mit der visuellen Faszination. In Bezug auf David Reeds uvre diesen großen Themenkomplex auszuschließen, würde jedoch der Qualität seiner Werke und auch seinem Ansinnen nicht gerecht werden. Die Anmut und Vollkommenheit seiner kompositorisch wie farblich so präzise errungenen Gemälde ist überwältigend, und es bleibt ein anhaltendes Phänomen, dass Schönheit kaum ergründbar scheint.
