Sinossi
Zwischen der Zündung einer Sprengladung und dem Einsturz eines Gebäudes liegen oft nur Sekunden, die Planung für eine Sprengung dauert jedoch Wochen. Sprengen ist ein Beruf, der auf Erfahrung beruht und durch das Medium des Bildes vermittelt wird. Der Sprengmeister fertigt, bevor er ein Gebäude zu Fall bringt, eine präzise technische Zeichnung über den Verlauf an. Die Sprengung selbst wird dann mit mehreren Kameras aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln festgehalten. Danach werden die Zeichnungen über die Fotografien gelegt, um die Sprengung zu kontrollieren. Ein permanenter Abgleich, ein Optimieren zwischen der Vorstellung und dem Realen mittels der Zeichnung und Fotografie. Alina Schmuch benutzt in ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit meist selbst das Medium Fotografie und arbeitet in dem Buch mit dem umfangreichen Bildarchiv der Sprengmeisterfamilie Fink. Es umfasst verschiedene bildgebende Medien von 8mm Film bis Digitalfotografie. In dem Buch sind Bewegungsabläufe zusammenbrechender Schornsteine, Fernsehtürme und Häuser zu sehen, die nicht unter ästhetischen Kriterien aufgenommen wurden.

Blasting is a profession that relies on experience, and that is conveyed through the medium of the image.
