Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. A nonviolent revolution is a revolution using mostly nonviolent protest against governments seen as entrenched and authoritarian to advocate democracy or national independence in their nation. Nonviolent revolution is possible despite the controlling government taking brutal measures against protesters; the commonly held belief that most revolutions which have happened in dictatorial regimes were bloody or violent uprisings is not born out by historical analysis. Nonviolent revolutions in the 20th century increasingly became more successful and more common, especially as Cold War political alliances which supported status quo governance waned.
