The first chapter covers the basics of crystallography, presenting the interaction of a polycrystalline powder with X-ray diffraction (Debye and Scherrer methods). The second chapter describes compact stacks: the cubic ABC type and the compact hexagonal AB type. Semi-compact (centered cubic) and non-compact (simple cubic) stacks are also described. In the third chapter, the different families of MX-type ionic crystals are explained in detail: CsCl, NaCl, ZnS (blende).
