《夏荆山佛画艺术全集6（达摩菩萨卷）》收录的有达摩祖师、明王力士等菩萨造像以及《大悲咒》图解，总计255幅作品。达摩为禅宗始祖，相传为南天竺人，南朝宋末自印度航海至广州，又往北魏，人嵩山少林寺，面壁打坐九年，提出“理入”和“行人”的修行方法，教人去掉爱憎情欲，按佛教教义践行。《大悲咒》共八十四句，除娑喇娑喇一句是表五浊恶世外，其余八十三句代表八十三位菩萨。咒就是真言，据载是观音菩萨为利乐众生而宣说，其利益功德广如大海，无论是消障除难，还是得善随愿，“大悲咒”都能因其大方便的威神之力厂“为利乐。夏荆山以工笔或意笔手法，画出了达摩以禅法济世利群的高尚品质，画出了明王力士护法的威严刚烈，画出了“大悲咒”不可思议的无尽功德，闪烁着真善美的人性光彩，起到净化人心的教化作用。
