Bioinformatics is a fast-evolving field. The author, M. Michael Gromiha, chose a well-defined target within this changing scene and summarized the computational tools of protein bioinformatics as we see it today. The author's approach is unique; it covers all aspects of proteins and their interactions in a coherent manner, and it provides a concise but comprehensive overview of the pertinent databases and Web servers. Students and researchers in protein research, bioinformatics, biophysics, computational biology, molecular modeling, and drug design will find this easy-to-understand book a ready reference for staying current and productive in this changing, interdisciplinary field.
From the Foreword by Sßndor Pongor, International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Trieste, Italy
This single-source reference on proteins explains fundamentals, sythesizes the latest literature, and demonstrates the most important bioinformatics tools available today for protein analysis, interpretation, and prediction.
Features:
-Explains all aspects of proteins, including sequence and structure analysis, protein structures' prediction, protein folding, protein stability, and protein interactions.
-Teaches Readers how to analyze their own data sets using available online databases, software tools, and Web servers, which are listed and updated on the book's Web companion page.
-Presents a cohesive and accessible overview of the field, using illustrations to explain key concepts and detailed exercises for students.

Dr. M. Michael Gromiha began his research on Computational Molecular Biophysics in 1989 and earned his PhD in Physics from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli, India. He did a postdoctoral fellowship at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Trieste, Italy, and at The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN), Japan. Currently, he is a Senior Research Scientist at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Tokyo, Japan. His research interests are structural analysis, structure prediction, folding and stability of globular and membrane proteins, protein-protein, protein-DNA, and protein-RNA interactions, and development of bioinformatics databases and tools. He has published more than 125 research articles, 25 reviews, and a book.
