Only a genius like Gopulu can convey in a few lines and sketches a world of meaning. Dr. R. Natarajan has succeeded brilliantly in this difficult task of interpreting. A subtle sense of humour is seen in every interpretation that Mr. Natarajan has given to Gopulu’s jokes. That these cartoons can be interpreted managerially is in itself a brilliant thought. I know that in a couple of days of his buying Gopulu’s book, Natarajan wrote all his one-liners. Gopulu gave the seed. Natarajan nursed it. In interpreting men and matters, by lines and between the lines, the two worthies revel in hilarious harmony. Here truth is recommended by humour and humour is sustained by truth. That is the cardinal characteristic of the best piece of literature. This book is one.As a Professor of Management, I wish to carry to classrooms these cartoons to elicit students’ comments. Then I will treat them to Natarajan’s managerial interpretations. It will help students grasp management nuances better.
