In 2012, with the support of the Balzan Foundation and in collaboration with the National Academy of the Lincei and the Swiss Academies of Sciences, Alberto Quadrio Curzio launched IinteR-La+B, an annual seminar-laboratory designed to bring together young researchers and Balzan Prize laureates around a single keyword capable of bridging the sciences and the humanities. Ten years and ten editions later ― from Experiment to Time, from Energy to Light, from Memory to Pandemics, through to The Evolution of Humankind and Global Transformations ― the outcome confirms an intuition that time has proven both timely and fruitful. This volume, by Alberto Quadrio Curzio and Matteo Borri, retraces the history of IinteR-La+B, reconstructing its method, gathering its most significant voices, offering a critical synthesis, and looking ahead to the challenges of the next decade. This collective account shows how interdisciplinarity, when cultivated with rigor and openness, is not a compromise between fields of knowledge but a distinctive way of thinking together.
