Edizione bilingue spagnolo/inglese - The exhibition Testigos / Witnesses deals with current cultural and socio-political events that affect border territories at the crossroads of cultures, traditions, countries, and religions. The NMAC Foundation, located at the southernmost tip of the Iberian Peninsula, in the province of Cadiz, is the point of departure for the projects of artists depicting a local situation with global repercussions, and consequently, with an impact in different places around the world. These unique, site-specific projects-by the artists Adel Abdessemed (Algeria, 1971), Maja Bajevic (Bosnia-Herzegovina, 1967), Jeppe Hein (Denmark, 1973), Cristina Lucas (Spain, 1973), Pascale Marthine Tayou (Cameroon, 1967), Aleksandra Mir (Poland, 1967), Jesús Palomino (Spain, 1969), Gregor Schneider (Germany, 1969), and Shen Yuan (China, 1959)-bring the viewer closer to issues such as the territory, collective identity, tragedy, destiny, construction, and deconstruction of history, ideologies, and sociology. These elements work together to create a catalyzing effect, giving birth to different narratives referring to memory and identity, catching the viewer's eye, which should sift through the subtleties of these different languages, in the form of installations, sculptures, photographs, and video-based works.
