Grootmoeders en designers, traditie en innovatie, gaan hand in hand in het Europese project 'Grandma's Design'. In België, Finland, Italië, Nederland en Turkije werden in totaal meer dan 75 grootmoeders gefilmd en geïnterviewd terwijl ze een 'authentiek' bakrecept bereidden. Grootmoeders en designers, traditie en innovatie, gaan hand in hand in het Europese project 'Grandma's Design'. In België, Finland, Italië, Nederland en Turkije werden in totaal meer dan 75 grootmoeders gefilmd en geïnterviewd terwijl ze een 'authentiek' bakrecept bereidden. De focus lag daarbij op zowel het recept als het verhaal erachter, het erfgoed en de couleur locale. Het doel was niet alleen de kennis en de tradities bewaren, maar ook om ze via een eigentijdse kijk nieuw leven in te blazen.
Professionele food- en productdesigners, chefs en kunstenaars werden uitgenodigd om een nieuw concept te bedenken geïnspireerd op een van de klaargemaakte recepten. Designers uit de vijf landen kozen een grootmoeder uit, ontmoetten haar en creëerden samen met haar een nieuw 'bakconcept'. Dit kan een recept zijn, maar ook een verpakking of een voorwerp.
De mooiste, origineelste of meest vernieuwende resultaten van deze samenwerking tussen grootmoeders en designers werden verzameld in dit rijk geïllustreerd boek.
