This publication sets out a selection of best practice standards in information technology management which are designed to help organisations implement effective information services to meet their business needs. The publication discusses the growing importance of standards in organisational communication between people, processes and technology given increasing social changes and technological developments; types of standards for the IT organisation and for IT technology; the business case for a standard; and applying standards in the correct environment. It then goes on to consider 21 different standards based on seven key criteria, including EFQM, CobiT, ITIL, ISO/IEC 20000, ISO 17799, PRINCE2, MSP and XML.
