Biswajit Das is Professor and founding Director of Centre for Culture, Media & Governance, Jamia Millia Islamia. He has over four decades of teaching and research experiences in the field of theory, method and history of Communication in India. Prof Das has been a Visiting Professor at York University, South Korea and fellow at the University of Windsor, Canada, Fellow, MSH, Paris, INALCO, Paris, Charles Wallace Trust, London and the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla, India. His publications include Media and Mediation (2005), Sage, The Social and the Symbolic (2007), Sage, Communication, Culture and Confrontation (2010). Media Pedagogy in Commonwealth Asia (2016) CEMCA, Gandhian Thought and Communication (2020) Sage and Caste, Communication and Power (2021), Sage. His latest book on Seeing South Asia: Visuals beyond Borders (2022) is being published by Routledge, London. Prof. Das has published in various national and international journals and is a member of advisory board of several National and International Journals. Prof. Das is the member of Open Education Resource, MHRD, Coordinator, Centre for Potential with Excellence in Media and Communication Studies (CPEPA,2016-21), Coordinator, Special assistance programme, UGC, MHRD (2014-19), Coordinator, Sparc programme(2020-2022) and headed as Project Investigator of MOOCS programme in Media and Communication Studies, UGC,MHRD(2016-17), coordinated 360 modules and authored 30 modules uploaded in UGC-INFLIBNET for Postgraduate programme in Media and Communication Studies. Currently, Prof. Das is the founding President of All India Communication and Media Association in India
Santosh Panda is a Professor of Distance Education and Director at the Staff Training and Research Institute, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi. Besides PhD, he has a Certificate in EdTV from the BBC, UK, and Certificate in Online Teaching from the University of Maryland, USA. Started university teaching in 1984 at Kurukshetra University, and till date has 37 years of teaching, research and administrative experience at universities. In the past, he has been: Chairperson, National Council for Teacher Education, a statutory national regulator of Government of India; Senior Fulbright Scholar, the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, USA; Director, the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Delhi; Director, Centre for Flexible & Distance Learning, the University of South Pacific, Fiji; Founding Director, Inter-University Consortium for ICT, IGNOU; Visiting Professor at University of London (UK), Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), University of New Mexico (USA), Beijing Normal University (China), and University of Guadalajara (Mexico), and Adjunct Professor at University of Maryland (USA). Dr Panda has presented keynotes, conference papers, pre-conference workshops, and conducted workshops in above 25 countries, and convocation address at 5 universities. He has published 48 papers in refereed journals internationally, 44 book chapters, 19 books, and 34 conference papers. His latest books include: Technology-Enabled Learning: policy, pedagogy and practice (Vancouver: The Commonwealth of Learning, 2020), Planning & Management in Distance Education (London: Routledge, 2017), Economics of Distance & Online Learning (New York: Routledge, 2008).
Vibodh Parthasarathi maintains a multidisciplinary interest in media policy/business/history. Associate professor at the Centre for Culture, Media and Governance, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, he has held visiting positions at the University of Queensland, KU Leuven, University of Helsinki and Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He has also been an affiliate researcher at SASNET (Lund University) and non-resident fellow at the Centre for Media, Data and Society (Central European University).
Parthasarathi has been at the forefront of media policy research in India and a winner of numerous grants from leading international bodies, including the Ford Foundation, Canada's IDRC, Hivos and Social Science Research Council, besides India New Zealand Education Council steered by UGC.
Within and beyond his varied scholarly collaborations, he is fascinated by questions of media regulation in the longue durée, experiences of digital transitions and media policy as a knowledge enterprise. Widely published in journals in his field, including Digital Journalism, Media, Culture and Society and Journal of Digital Media and Policy, he has also curated special issues on themes ranging from media modernity to the public sphere. Parthasarathi's co-edited books include Media and Mediation (2005), The Social and the Symbolic (2007) and Communication, Culture and Confrontation (2010), which were part of a triptych from SAGE; the critically acclaimed double-volume The Indian Media Economy (OUP, 2018) and Platform Capitalism in India (Palgrave/IAMCR, 2020). He has been invited to be the editor and advisor in book series at MIT Press and Oxford University Press and to the international editorial boards of journals such as the Journal of Communication (Oxford) and Global Media and Communication (SAGE).
