Economics (Hons.) semester-III and semester-IV respectively. This necessitated the publication of this book entitled-‘AN INTRODUCTION TO THE WELFARE ECONOMICS’ so that students can have entire course of study at one place. Students from rural areas will find it very comfortable as language used in this book is very simple and clear. The contribution of some eminent economists like- Marshall, Pigou, Pareto, Hicks, Kaldor, Skitovsky, Samuelson, Bergson, Little and Arrow has immensely influenced my understanding and interest in the subject of welfare economics.
