Sixty moments. One continuous story. No filler.
The Bible is one long story — but it rarely reads like one. Genealogies, laws, prophecies, and letters sit alongside its most dramatic turning points, and it's easy to lose the thread of what actually happened underneath everything else that's there.
Event by Event: The Bible strips the story down to sixty of those moments — the specific events that carry the plot forward, from the world being spoken into existence in Genesis to a vision of it made new again in Revelation. Each one gets its own page: what happened, why it happened, and why it still matters.
Every entry follows the same simple format:
When It Happened — a rough place in time
Found In — the exact passage, so you can read it for yourself
What Happened — the event itself, told plainly
Why It Happened and Why It Matters — the reasoning behind it and why it's still worth knowing
Quick Facts — details that don't always make it into the retelling
Lines You've Heard Before — how often the moment has quietly worked its way into everyday language
The sixty events are grouped into nine sections that move roughly in order — from Creation, through the Patriarchs, the Exodus, the united and divided kingdoms, exile and return, the Gospels, and the early church. Read it straight through as one continuous story, or open it to any single event and get the full picture in a couple of minutes.
This isn't a substitute for reading Scripture itself, and it doesn't try to settle every debate a passage raises — where there's genuine disagreement between traditions, that's noted rather than argued. The goal is simpler: a clear, accurate handle on the moments that shaped the story, so the rest of it makes a little more sense.
Written in plain, everyday language for readers of any background — whether you're new to the Bible, returning to it after years away, or just want the big picture without wading through genealogies to find it.
