Blondie Simpson lies near death after a violent incident. As her life flashes before her eyes, alternating between past and near-present, she relives the incidents that brought her here, starting a year ago.
She recovers a memory of her mother Moneta assaulting her. She has Moneta charged with the crime, only to realize the memory is false and have her mother cleared. But Moneta's life is already ruined and she vanishes. Blondie determines to find her, bring her home, and fix the damage she caused. While searching for her, our heroine accidentally discovers that years ago she was part of an underground group of mnemonic thieves who steal memories of the rich and powerful (or "paramours") for sale to the highest bidder.
Believing Moneta has returned to that life, Blondie follows her footsteps into a dangerous world that will bring them both to death's door.
Blondie infiltrates Moneta's old gang and joins them in heisting valuable financial intel contained in memories of the rich and powerful ("paramours") to sell to the highest bidder. After Blondie demonstrates her natural talent by salvaging a job gone wrong, heiress Maggie Quinlan recruits the gang to assist in pulling off a heist inside her own mind, which her wealthy and powerful stepfather, Griffin, imprisons to control her fortune and contain his darkest secrets.
As Blondie, Maggie, and the gang infiltrate the heiress's mind and the young women bond over their family issues, the job turns out to have unexpected connections to Moneta's past and possible whereabouts. Connections that lead them through painful memories turned dangerous, with Griffin's forces in close pursuit. When past and present collide, the young women must find Griffin's intel and uncover Moneta's history while somehow keeping the gang in the dark, to gain their freedom and save their families.
