Riassunto

Ruth Finley was a wife, mother, and ordinary woman living in Wichita, Kansas, in the late 1970s. Her life seemed calm, until the letters began. They were signed The Poet — written in rhyme, full of threats, and filled with details only someone close could know. Strange phone calls, shadows near her home, and broken windows followed. Fear became part of her everyday life.

The police opened a file, investigating the growing pattern of threats. Tire marks, break-ins, and cryptic letters suggested a stalker was at work. Ruth and her husband Ed tried to understand what was happening, but every clue only deepened the mystery.

The Poet’s Shadow tells the story of stalking, memory, and trauma in a small town. It shows how fear can change the mind, how reality can feel uncertain, and how survival can depend on understanding the mind itself. When the truth was finally revealed, it challenged everything Ruth thought she knew about herself and the danger around her.

This is a gripping story for readers interested in psychological true crime, stalking true stories, and real-life accounts of trauma and recovery.
