That Deputy Marsh is a persistent bastard. Trista thinks, but mentally she is having a hard time imagining why. Between drinking too much last night and the shock she is in, her mind is just puddle jumping within a fog of its own. What the hell do they mean Arnold is dead? Trista ponders as shaky fingers find Ashley’s number on the phone.
Meanwhile; those damn cops at the door keep knocking. Or is it her head that is pounding? The pounding in her head does seem to be running in unison with them, making it impossible to tell. Suddenly the door flies open. Trista is dressed now and still has the phone to her ear although the other end of the line only continues to ring
Once again Trista gets voicemail. “Ashley, honey, give me a call. I have cops at my door. They say it is really important that I get ahold of you. I’m starting to get scared. Ashley, they are quite persistent. Alright, call me back.”
Trista looks at the deputies standing in her house once more. Having composed herself a little she begins to ask the questions she now needs answers to. “What about everyone else? What did they have to say? I left early with Stuart, they all stayed. I haven’t talked to anyone since then. In fact, I haven’t talked to anyone except you since then. Where did you find Arnold? What happened to him?”
“We are the ones here to ask questions, Miss Ness."
