Every aspect of a student's life and experiences revolves around reading. Subjects like math, science, social studies, and the development of personal ideas, requires a solid reading foundation. For students who are struggling, this resource is the beginning of the end to their struggles. I've spent years studying how my students learn. This is one of the many resources that I've used in my classroom to bridge the learning gaps which have helped my students to read.
This book focuses on building a reading foundation using images that children are familiar with. Using their oral skills to blend their knowledge of the images to the titles of the images is the key. Eventually the supports (images) are removed and the students are reading full sentences! The second part of this book expands these supports to help students with dyslexia. I discovered how to maximize letter spacing, combined with the proper font to help dyslexia students make connections with words. Yes, they can read! It's an amazing resource.
