Riassunto

January (Berry Blend) collects 101 poems written in January 2020 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Kara WTF

We were on the bus in sixth grade
and you offered me a juice box.

I said no thanks, then
took it back, said actually
yeah can I have one,
but you ignored me.

This was on the school trip,
when we all spent the night
in Chicago.

We were on the bus in sixth grade
and you offered me a juice box.

Crow

Someone tipped a trash can
for the media, started a fire.

A murder descends, cawing
with each click of the lens,

flash brackets planted like
flags at a circus.

Waiting for Darkness

When we were young
it seemed like everything happened
at night. We were always waiting
for darkness to start things.
Now nothing ever happens,
and if we wait for darkness
it’s to sleep.

The Blue Balloon

This weekend I saw
a blue balloon
lying on the snow
on the side of the road
in late afternoon
outside the subdivision.

It was perfectly still
and very blue
and when I saw it
I thought
blue-oon.
