The envisioned future starts with executives and the board of directors recognizing that integrating project management into their organizations' governance as a core organizational function is essential. We propose formally recognizing the PM Function by creating a project management division or business unit led by a CPO, Chief Project Officer.

The CPO role and PMD mandate start with supporting the strategy formulation, taking the lead on strategy execution, and disseminating a winning project management culture across the organization.
