Taroniah had barely graduated from magic school when war broke out over her part of the world. When the Shoverians initially attacked the town of Alcitran, near the Lightbearer Academy, she had single-handedly incinerated half their army using a new spell she had devised. Upon her return to Marland, she was taken by complete surprise when her natural father, the King, publicly acknowledged her after all these years. Her euphoria was short-lived as agents of a foreign Kingdom managed to kidnap her. Meanwhile, Winghia and Berlisbu invade Penhampia, and everything goes to hell. Taroniah, with the support of her small army, is determined to march on Winghia and personally take down the evil King Dorman.
