Sinossi
Forced to flee his homeland by the evil Prince Lyren and then pursued for weeks by the Prince's minions, Kyron ap Byram takes service with a mercenary troop and begins a new life. The mercenaries hone his combat skills, and he sees action as the troop he has joined, the Black Dryarns, rove around eastern Ithria, moving from contract to contract until things go very wrong in eastern Chipland. The ensuing desperate retreat leaves the troop battered but opens new doors for Kyron.
