Maxwell Woods is a dedicated employee and Vice President of Baines Brothers, a small publishing company in Denver, Colorado. On a whim, Max buys an old, reconditioned, red Underwood typewriter from a strange man. The manual machine is inexplicably possessed by a demonic force and launches a conversation with a beautiful mystery woman in Havana, Cuba. Thus begins Maxwell's passionate love affair with Carmen Vega, a dark-haired Cuban beauty with another possessed machine. The world conspires to keep them apart, and just when it appears that they will never meet, an unexpected trip to Italy brings them together for the first time. With Max's friend Callie Cook and her Italian boyfriend Carlos Castillo, the four set out to tour the magical city of Rome. Is marriage in the future for the two couples brought together by diabolical devices?
