This Guide to Self-Publishing is not just for poets, but everyone from beginners to intermediate writers who want to see their hardcover, softcover and/or EBooks printed, marketed and sold. Although the focus is on writers of any form of poetry who have questions on everything from formatting and production to sales and marketing, this Guide delivers what you need and want in a condensed content informed by considerable research and experience of my own. The major features of the Guide are my personal selection of the top 12 Blogging Platforms, top 12 Web Sites and top 12 Web Hosts. From there writers have a powerful tool to choose the ones best for them. Criteria is provided for the selection method and then the Features and Costs are embedded.
When starting to write poetry seriously, I still had several questions and conceptions that pervaded my mind in my intellectual progression to become a poet with a modicum of acceptance within the community of poets.
Self-publishing is one of the primary modern methods to make an initial impact on the consciousness of consumers and book publishers. The landscape is littered with the hopes of writers who often must learn only by experience the best ways to present their literary legacies. To be sure, there are several self-publishing guides that generally cover the spectrum of genre, but I have learned over the course of five years what are the best practices and the best platforms.
Some of the material, to be sure, is dedicated to poets who wish to understand self-publishing, but there is much writers of all genre need. Self-publishing usually is the only way to begin to make an impact on the profession. According to BookBaby, “No other genre of book is as associated with self-publishing as the poetry book, or chapbook. Whitman, Eliot, Poe, Pope, Shelley, Cummings, Browning, and so many other poetry greats all paid to publish their first books.” (Source: BookBaby, bookbaby.com/poetry-book-printing.)
