Cat Roots is the prequel to Five Cool Cats (Watch Out for Tommy!). It commences in London, England in1945 just after the Second World War had ended with four cats who had successfully survived the impact of the war. Two were feral and living in the open, surviving on scraps behind a bakery in South London. In comparison, the other two cats were living in palatial luxury in central London being cared for by a French couple who had escaped Paris in the early 1940's and were working at the British War Office. These four cats were as far as some imaginative research could go back in time to uncover the ancestors of the five cool cats born in Portugal in 2010 and 2012. This mostly fictitious biographical tale traces the lives of 17 generations of cats. It tells of their adventures in the locations where they lived, it details the times they lived in and covers the lives of the people who were their owners. Tracing family roots has become a very popular pastime for many people. DNA tests are easily obtainable these days and it is relatively easy to trace family roots. But, this book imagines what could possibly be found if cats alive today attempted to research their own roots. At the end of the book, the reader will almost certainly want to know more about the real five cool cats who inspired this tale - Unless of course they have already read Five Cool Cats (Watch Out for Tommy!).
