This book examines the reason for human existence from the beginning of man where he first walked with God in the garden paradise to the celestial city where he eats of the Tree of Life. It’s a compilation of science, philosophy, and theology, incorporating the physical and the metaphysical, the temporal and eternal, the corporeal and incorporeal, for anything less would negate the integrity of an honest inquiry. The reason for being is both simple and profound, in some ways
understandable and others incomprehensible. Logic, reason, and intellect alone will not suffice; therefore, divine enlightenment must be included in our quest for understanding, but this should not be viewed as a deterrent but an unknown frontier that our heavenly guide desires to make known to all earnest seekers of meaning and purpose. In a world where life is often modeled by the high achievers, social elites, and the rich and famous, many are left thinking they are “less than,” the “down and outer,” a commoner that missed the bus on the highway to success. In such a world the desire for
social acceptance fueled by the flames of competition and comparisons all too often paves the road to emotional despair and feelings of rejection. Therefore, questions of self-worth and the reason for one’s existence often appear as an unsolvable puzzle with pieces missing and the picture on the box blurred. This, however, is but a microcosm of the complexities that
haunt people whose heart cries out “there must be more than this,” there must be a “reason for being.” The
American writer Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, said, “The two most important
days in your life are the day you were born and the day you found out why.” The occasion you came into being (existence) and discovered your raison d’ etre (reason for being). Intrinsically interwoven in the fabric of humanity is the
reason for being, like gold buried below the crusted soil it remains a hidden treasure that begs to be mined, a frontier to be explored, and a question that dares to be answered. But where do we begin, and at the end of the day, will it make life worth living? That my friend you will never know unless by faith, you set your sails to the wind, and discover the “reason for your being.”
