Fred was not a big kid. In fact, he was one of the smallest in his fourth-grade class. However, his classmates always seemed to be drawn mysteriously toward him.

Fred was always aware that someone or something was watching. He would often awaken, late at night, to a strange bright light and would sometimes think he could hear a faint whisper within the light. The vision seemed to occur when he wasn’t completely awake, and he could never be sure if it wasn’t just his overactive imagination.

The rabbit looked at Fred and bowed. “Hello Fred,” he said, with an English accent, “I am pleased to make your acquaintance.” Fred was frozen and in shock. He slowly backed into a chair to have a seat before he fell over. It was all too much to comprehend: a woman who appears out of a light, a rabbit that can stand upright and talk!
