Riassunto

This golden-anniversary book tracks the journey of Ski for Light through the stories of those who have participated as disabled skiers, sighted instructor-guides, or organizational volunteers. From the reflections of the first-time skier who learned to trust her guide as she glided along snowy trails to the seasoned athlete who acquired new skills and a newfound confidence, these personal stories of transformation reveal the heart and soul of the organization. Messages from dignitaries and leaders, alongside stunning photographs from events past, honor SFL's ongoing mission and ever-growing community of supporters. More than just a history, Ski for Light at 50 captures the incredible spirit that defines the program, reminding us with courage, cooperation, and determination, there are no limits to what we can achieve. Here's to 50 years of "skiing, sharing, learning," and to many more journeys ahead.

For half a century, Ski for Light has been a beacon of possibility, offering blind, visually or mobility-impaired individuals a chance to experience the exhilarating freedom of cross-country skiing in the great outdoors. What began in Colorado as an effort to replicate the Norwegian Ridderrenn with a few dedicated volunteers has grown into a national organization with a profound impact on thousands of lives.
