Hai attraversato momenti difficili, chiedendoti dove rivolgerti? In quei momenti difficili della vita, Dio è stata la mia speranza. Da bambino ho imparato che Dio è sempre con noi. E ho percepito la presenza di Dio non solo in chiesa ma anche in famiglia e, in seguito, nelle amicizie e nel matrimonio. Meditando sulle Scritture, La guarigione di un paralitico (Luca 5:17-26), mi sono visto nei diversi personaggi di quella Scrittura durante la vita: un fariseo, giudicava gli altri, qualcuno tra la folla, osservando e ascoltando, e molte volte essere uno degli uomini che portavano il paralitico sulla barella. Durante le crisi della vita, ero il paralitico sulla barella, incluso sia figurativamente che letteralmente durante la più grande crisi singola della mia vita - il mio calvario di nove mesi con COVID-19, andando alla porta e ritorno della morte! Furono altri a portarmi su quella barella, e vidi la speranza di Dio attraverso coloro che erano lì per portarmi. Che fosse la donna che non conoscevo prima, picchiettandomi sulla spalla chiedendomi come stava mia madre e dicendomi che stava pregando per lei, in un'intera chiesa a Bloomingburg, pregando per lei e, molti anni dopo, per me quando ero nelle morse del COVID-19, la speranza di Dio brilla attraverso le persone. Sarò eternamente grato a tutte le donne e gli uomini in campo medico, molti di loro sono in questo libro, e alcuni che forse non conoscerò mai i loro nomi. Erano e continuano ad essere vasi di speranza di Dio per me. Come lo sono i molti che hanno pregato, localmente, in tutto il paese e il mondo. Con gioia al mio ritorno a casa, il dottor Gulati, il mio medico locale lo dichiarò "a dir poco un miracolo di Natale".

As a small boy, I learned that God is always with us. And I sensed God's presence not only in church but also in the family, and, later, in friendships and marriage. Meditating on the scripture, The Healing of a Paralytic (Luke 5:17-26), I saw myself in the different characters in that scripture during life: a Pharisee, judging others, someone in the crowd, observing and listening, and many times being one of the men carrying the paralytic on the stretcher. During the crises of life, I was the paralytic on the stretcher, including both figuratively and literally during the largest single crisis of my life--my nine-month ordeal with COVID-19, going to death's door and back! It was others who carried me on that stretcher, and I saw God's hope through those that were there to carry me. Whether it was the woman I hadn't known before, tapping me on the shoulder asking how my mother was doing and telling me she was praying for her, to an entire church in Bloomingburg, praying for her, and, many years later, for me when I was in the grips of COVID-19, God's hope shines through people. I will be eternally grateful to all the women and men in the medical field, many of them are in this book, and some who I may never know their names. They were and continue to be God's vessels of hope for me. As are the many who prayed, locally, around the country, and the world.
