Riassunto

Joseph was the favorite of his father, Jacob, and his brothers were very envious of him. His father gave him a dazzling coat of many colors, which he paraded around.

A dreamer, Joseph imagined that he was a powerful leader and his brothers bowed down to him; when he told them about this, they grew angrier.

One day, when Joseph met them in the fields, his brothers decided to kill him! But his brother Reuben reasoned with the others that they must not shed Josephâ sÃ"öâ^sÃ'â^s s blood. So they threw him into a well instead and then sold him into slavery!

With rich and vibrant detail, Brian Wildsmith enlivens the story of Joseph â sÃ"öâ^sÃ'â^sÃ+ depicting in full-color the splendor of the pyramids, the hieroglyphic-bedecked walls, and spires that reach the heavens.

At first, Joseph was respected for his hard work in Egypt, but then he was falsely accused and imprisoned.

God made Joseph an interpreter of dreams, however, and this finally led to his release. Joseph was made second-in-command to the mighty Pharaoh, who placed him in charge of rationing grain for the whole kingdom during a famine to help save lives.

When Josephâ sÃ"öâ^sÃ'â^s s brothers came to Egypt, they didnâ sÃ"öâ^sÃ'â^s t recognize him, and Joseph played tricks on them.

Was God punishing his brothers for hurting Joseph? Would Joseph see his father again at last?

In this brilliant, suspenseful action-packed retelling, children will learn the virtues of mercy, perseverance, and hope. This beautifully illustrated classic is ideal for family story time or classroom read-alouds.

Tears and joy, sorrow and forgiveness, separation and happy reunion. This is the timeless tale of Joseph, king of dreams.
