Picture Perfect Poetry is an anthology of ekphrastic nature poetry written for students in the middle grades. It contains poems from 25 authors on three continents. The authors used their photography to inspire a poem. There is a variety of poetry offered to the reader. The types of poetry included are haiku, tanka, fib, golden shovel, kenning, limerick, nonet, triolet, mesostic, alliteration, reverso, shape poems, and free verse. The photography is stunning and the words will touch your heart.
Teachers are encouraged to read this text to their students during poetry units or use the anthology as a mentor text. Students can write ekphrastic nature poetry by using extra photos placed in the book for this purpose.
Additionally, there is a resource section in the back describing each type of poetry and where to find it online.
This is Carol Labuzzetta's second book of poetry and first anthology.
