Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Excretion (ADME) processes and their relationship with the design of dosage forms and the success of pharmacotherapy form the basis of this upper level undergraduate/graduate textbook. Whereas primarily oriented to Pharmacy students and graduates, it can also be useful for scientist from different fields elated to pharmaceutics and pharmacology. (e.g., material scientists, material engineers, medicinal chemists, physicians) who might be working in a positions in pharmaceutical companies or whose work might benefit from basic training in the ADME concepts and related biological background.
Pedagogical features such as objectives, keywords, discussion questions, summaries and case studies are included as teaching tools. This book will provide not only general knowledge on ADME processes but also an updated insight on some hot topics such as drug transporters, multi-drug resistance related to pharmacokinetic phenomena, last generation pharmaceutical carriers (nanopharmaceuticals), in vitro and in vivo bioequivalence studies, biopharmaceuticals, pharmacogenomics, drug-drug and food-drug interactions, in silico and in vitro prediction of ADME properties, or chronopharmacokinetic. In comparison with other similar textbooks, around half of the volume would be focused on the relationship between expanding scientific fields and ADME processes. Each of these burgeoning fields has a separate chapter in the second part of the volume, and is written with experts on the correspondent topic, including industrial scientists and academics from USA and UK.
Additionally, each of the initial chapters dealing with the generalities of drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion would include relevant, classic examples related to each topic with appropriate illustrations.
ADME Processes and Pharmaceutical Sciences is written as a core textbook for courses on pharmaceutical sciences: pharmacology, pharmacokinetics,drug delivery, biopharmaceutics, drug design and medicinal chemistry courses.

Informazioni sull’autore
Prof. Alan Talevi obtained his Pharmacy degree in 2004 and completed his PhD studies in 2007, both at the University of La Plata. He obtained the award for the best PhD thesis from the Argentinean Chemical Society (2008) and the Award to Scientific Production from the National University of La Plata (2016). He holds a permanent position at the Argentinean National Council of Scientific and Technical Research since 2010, and he is Full Professor of the Biopharmacy course at the Faculty of Exact Sciences, University of La Plata. He has published over 100 articles in periodicals and more than 50 book chapters and entries, mostly in the fields of drug discovery and pharmacokinetics. He was elected Head of the Department of Biological Sciences of the Faculty of Exact Sciences, University of La Plata, between 2015 and 2017. In 2018 he became the Head of the Laboratory of Bioactive Compound Research and Development (LIDeB, University of La Plata). External reviewer for several agencies and universities, including Argentinean National Agency of Scientific and Technical Promotion, the United Nations University, the National Science Center (Poland), KU Leuven (Belgium), CONCYTEC (Perú), UK Research and Innovation (UK). Argentinean Ministry of National Education, University of La República (Uruguay), National Agency of Scientific and Technical Promotion (Uruguay). He has taught several PhD courses and postgraduate courses in Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, Ecuador and Perú, and he has acted as invited lecturer at Universidad Autonoma de México, Universidad de Guadalajara (México) and Universidad de Salamanca (Spain), among others.
Pablo Quiroga is a Pharmacist and has Bachelor in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Exact Sciences of the University of La Plata (UNLP). University Expert in Toxicology and Master of Science in Toxicology of the University of Seville, Spain. He is a Full Professor of the Chairs of Quality Control of Drugs and Pharmaceutical Toxicology of the Faculty of Exact Sciences of the UNLP. Chief of Pharmacological Research Department - Laboratorios Bagó S.A. Member of the Council of Experts of Argentinean Pharmacopoeia. Co- Editor of The E-Books: Pharmaceutical Analysis (2013), and Biopharmaceutical Processes (2016)- University of La Plata Publishing - EDULP. Co-author of several scientific publications. External reviewer of the UBACYT 2014-2017 Research Projects-UBA (University of Buenos Aires). Member of American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) and the Argentinean Association of Industrial Pharmacy and Biochemistry (SAFYBI). Workshop Co-Chairs and Speaker “Implementation of Biowaivers based on the Biopharmaceutics Classification System”- held by the Focus Group on Biopharmaceuticals Classification System (BCS) and Biowaivers -International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and Faculty of ExactSciences – UNLP. Hai il diritto di recedere dal presente contratto entro 14 giorni senza fornire alcuna motivazione.
Il periodo di recesso scade dopo 14 giorni dal giorno in cui tu o una terza parte, diversa dal vettore e da te indicata, acquisisce il possesso fisico dell'ultimo bene o dell'ultimo lotto o pezzo.
Per esercitare il diritto di recesso, compila e invia elettronicamente una dichiarazione esplicita sul nostro sito Web, alla voce “I miei acquisti” nella sezione “Mio account”. Ti comunicheremo senza indugio una conferma di ricezione di tale recesso su un supporto durevole (ad es. via e-mail).
Per rispettare il termine di recesso, è sufficiente inviare la comunicazione relativa all'esercizio del diritto di recesso prima della scadenza del periodo di recesso stesso.
Effetti del recesso
In caso di recesso dal presente contratto, ti rimborseremo tutti i pagamenti ricevuti, compresi i costi di spedizione (ad eccezione dei costi supplementari derivanti dalla tua eventuale scelta di un tipo di spedizione diverso dal tipo meno costoso di consegna standard da noi offerto).
Potremo effettuare una detrazione dal rimborso per la perdita di valore dei beni forniti, qualora tale perdita sia il risultato di una manipolazione non necessaria da parte tua.
Eseguiremo il rimborso senza indebito ritardo e non oltre 14 giorni dal giorno in cui saremo informati della tua decisione di recedere dal presente contratto.
Il rimborso sarà effettuato utilizzando lo stesso mezzo di pagamento da te usato per la transazione iniziale, salvo che tu non abbia espressamente concordato altrimenti; in ogni caso, non dovrai sostenere alcun costo quale conseguenza di tale rimborso.
Possiamo trattenere il rimborso finché non avremo ricevuto i beni oppure finché non avrai fornito la prova di averli rispediti, a seconda di quale condizione si verifichi per prima.
Dovrai rispedire i beni o consegnarli a BUCHSERVICE / ANTIQUARIAT Lars Lutzer, Wahlstedt, Germany, senza indebito ritardo e, in ogni caso, entro 14 giorni dal giorno in cui ci hai comunicato la tua volontà di recedere dal presente contratto. Il termine è rispettato se rispedisci i beni prima della scadenza del periodo di 14 giorni. I costi diretti della restituzione dei beni saranno a tuo carico. Sei responsabile solo della diminuzione del valore dei beni risultante da una manipolazione diversa da quella necessaria per stabilire la natura, le caratteristiche e il funzionamento dei beni stessi.
Eccezioni al diritto di recesso
Il diritto di recesso non si applica a:
- La fornitura di giornali, periodici o riviste ad eccezione dei contratti di abbonamento; e
- La fornitura di contenuto digitale non fornito su un supporto materiale (ad es. su un CD o DVD), se al momento dell'invio dell'ordine hai accettato l'inizio dell'esecuzione e hai riconosciuto che non avresti potuto recedere una volta iniziata l'esecuzione.
