Paperback. "Acoustics for Musicians" is an authoritative and accessible guide designed to introduce students and performers to the physical principles of sound. Written by Percy C. Buck, this work serves as a vital bridge between the scientific study of acoustics and the practical world of musical performance. The text demystifies complex scientific concepts, explaining how sound is produced, transmitted, and perceived by the human ear, all through the lens of a musician's needs. The book covers fundamental topics such as the nature of vibrations, the formation of sound waves, and the mechanics of various musical instruments. Buck provides clear explanations of the harmonic series, resonance, and the physical basis of intervals and scales. By grounding musical theory in physical reality, the author helps readers understand why certain sounds and combinations are pleasing to the ear and how the environment affects musical projection. As an educational resource, "Acoustics for Musicians" emphasizes clarity and practical application, making it an ideal companion for those wishing to deepen their technical understanding of their art. It remains a significant contribution to musicology, offering timeless insights into the intersection of science and artistic expression. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
