This book covers managing pressures and dangers such as alcohol and drug use, smoking, pregnancy and impulsive behaviour, relevant to the process of change at adolescence. It grounds every topic in realistic scenarios that adolescents relate and respond to; includes important background information with each topic as a basis for discussion and further investigation; offers thought-provoking activities, ranging from interviews and surveys to role plays, and from pamphlet design to planning and budgeting. As students begin the metamorphosis from childhood to adulthood, they need a good understanding of the changes and challenges they are likely to face. This book is part of a series designed to develop such an understanding so that students can develop effective strategies for navigating their way through the transition. Each of the topic begins with a moral dilemma to set the topic in a believable context and energise the activities that follow. This book focuses on managing pressures and dangers such as alcohol and drug use, smoking, pregnancy and impulsive behaviour.
