Paperback. On the outskirts of Chennai, Manikandan once believed his life was good. Then came a child with a brain that would not fully grow, a friend who betrayed him, a debt that crushed him, and a society that looked away.TA mother who becomes the sole keeper of two disabled sons, A father who turns to alcohol to forget the weight of his duties, An elder son who leaves in anger and returns too late, And two gentle boys who, despite their disabilities, work to make their parents proud. When Manikandan dies, Parvathy is left alone with Prem and Illayaraja, facing a world that does not know how to care for them. She must ask herself an unthinkable question: what will happen to them after she is gone? The Weight of Love is a devastating, deeply human novel about disability, poverty, alcoholism, migration, and the unbearable burden of caregiving in contemporary India. It exposes the cracks in our system, the cruelty of stigma, and the irony of a society that praises the family but abandons its weakest members. The book asks: Who is the real killer ?Is it the individual, the family, or a society that refused to make space for them? This is not just the story of one family. It is the story of thousands of Prems and Illayarajas living among us, and of the Parvathys who carry them on their shoulders until they can carry them no more.A powerful, heart-wrenching call for compassion, dignity, and a world where every life-no matter how slow, how quiet, how different-is allowed to live with hope This item is printed on demand.
