Benacerraf (Boston, Massachusetts), 5 3/4 x 8 3/4 inches tall blue buckram cloth hardcover, no dust jacket (as issued), gilt lettering to front cover and spine, v, 266 pp. Laid in is a card reading, 'From the Private Collection of Dr. Roger and Lucienne Guillemin, Nobel Laureate, 1977, Salk Institute, La Jolla, CA.' Roger Charles Louis Guillemin was a French-American neuroscientist who received the National Medal of Science in 1976, and the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1977 for his work on neurohormones. Slight soiling, rubbing and edgewear to covers, with a bit of foxing to page edges. Slight foxing to front free-endpaper and front pastedown. Taped to the front pastedown is a slip of paper with the Boston address of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where Benacerraf served in the 1980s.
